Zecotek Photonics Inc., a developer of leading-edge photonics technologies for medical, industrial and scientific markets, today announced that the National Cancer Institute, a division of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), has selected its proprietary Tunable Green Fiber Laser (TGFL) for research in flow cytometry.
Most genes are inherited as two working copies, one from the mother and one from the father. However, in a few instances, a gene is imprinted, which means that one copy is silenced. This is called genomic imprinting. If the active copy is mutated, then disease results, even though the silenced gene copy may be normal.
Deaths by suicide among mental health patients treated at home have reached 150 to 200 a year in England, latest national figures reveal - but suicides among patients on mental health wards continue to fall.
The Obama administration's decision to give some people more time to sign up for coverage drew criticism from Republicans, while advocates continued to hit hard on the formal deadline to maintain their momentum.
