Oxford Gene Technology, The Molecular Genetics Company, has teamed up with clinical research experts in a new article available online, discussing the role of next generation sequencing (NGS) in cancer medicine.
A national study involving 804 couples found that married men over age 55 were almost 20 percent more likely to have had a screening colonoscopy in the previous five years than men who were not married. Men married to women who are happier with the marital relationship were nearly 30 percent more likely. That rises to more than 40 percent if their wives were highly educated.
Epigenomics AG, the cancer diagnostics company, announced that new data obtained in a clinical study with the Company's proprietary Septin9 biomarker for the blood-based detection of colorectal cancer, were presented yesterday at the 18th United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW) in Barcelona, Spain.
Drug trafficking and use are fueling the spread of HIV/AIDS in Kenya, according to a recent report by the U.N. Security Council, the Nation reports. "A statement from the council's Presidency currently … states that Afghan heroin was being imported, causing a dramatic increase in heroin addiction and spreading HIV/AIDS in the slums of Nairobi and Mombasa, Kenya's two main cities," the newspaper writes.
