According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW), the country is spending more and more to deal with its mental ailment burden. This emerged from a report from the AIHW saying that finances spent on mental health services between 2007 to 2008 were $5.3 billion. Of this around 60 per cent came from state and territory governments, 36 per cent from the Commonwealth, and the rest from private health funds.
On March 22, during the 41st Annual Meeting & Exhibition of the American Association for Dental Research (AADR), held in conjunction with the 36th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research, a symposium titled "Building the Oral Health Care Workforce: Multipronged Research on Dental Therapy" will take place to help attendees understand opportunities for effective utilization of new workforce models in nontraditional settings within the oral health care community.
Absorption Systems, a leader in testing drugs for ADMET (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion and Toxicity), has joined the Society of Toxicology, the premier global professional association of toxicologists, as an SOT Affiliate. The firm, a contract research organization, has more than a decade of experience assisting pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in determining which compounds in development should be advanced into clinical testing.
Dr. Takumi Takeuchi, from Cornell University, New York, USA told a media briefing that he and Dr. Gianpiero Palermo's team had compared imprinting abnormalities (the process where specific genes inherited from both parents are silent) in mice embryos derived from assisted reproduction techniques and from cloning.
