Affymax, Inc. today announced that it has received a $5 million development milestone payment from Takeda Pharmaceutical Company as part of the companies' exclusive global agreement to develop and commercialize Hematide™, Affymax's investigational drug for the treatment of anemia in chronic renal failure patients. The milestone was achieved with the initiation of Phase 3 clinical testing of Hematide to treat anemia in chronic renal failure patients in Japan.
No magic elixir can prevent children from developing occasional colds and viruses, but takings steps to boost their immune system can minimize their chances of catching every bug that winds its way through the daycare center or school.
Every year, more than 12,000 Americans-mostly young men-suffer spinal cord injuries in car crashes, falls, sports and acts of violence. Those dealing with this life-changing condition may soon have a better way to cope, thanks to a new collaborative research project by Washington State University Spokane and St. Luke's Rehabilitation Institute.
Solstice's Chief Executive Officer Dr. Leonard Weiss has been honored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with its John Engdahl Award. The award was established in recognition of John's dreams and his accomplishments of running and raising much needed funds for the Society.
