Stevens Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing were recently funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to use policy flight simulators - pioneered by Stevens-to simulate use of the Transitional Care Model, developed by Penn Nursing.
Virtual reality, dance and fun are not the first things that come to mind when we think of treating urinary incontinence in senior women. However, these concepts were the foundations of a promising study by Dr. Chantal Dumoulin, PhD, Canada Research Chair in Urogynaecological Health and Aging, a researcher at the Institut universitaire de g-riatrie de Montr-al, and an associate professor in the Physiotherapy Program of the Rehabilitation School at Universit- de Montr-al, and her master's student, Miss Val-rie Elliott.
Researchers from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio) and colleagues worldwide describe a new science-based intervention for hiccups in a research letter published June 18 in the journal JAMA Network Open.
Taking the stethoscope into the 21st century, 3M today announced the introduction of the 3M™ Littmann® Electronic Stethoscope Model 3200, a next-generation auscultation device featuring Bluetooth technology that wirelessly transfers heart, lung and other body sounds to software for further analysis.
Researchers from Kumamoto University, Japan have identified a protein that limits the severity of Alport syndrome, a type of genetic kidney disease. The finding can provide clues that point toward new therapeutic approaches for Alport syndrome.
