Awarded the first of its kind funding to provide FDA-mandated opioid prescribing education, Boston University School of Medicine has launched a program to train health care providers how to safely and effectively manage patients with chronic pain using opioid analgesics.
A new study reveals that black Americans display lower levels of vitamin D and greater pain sensitivity compared to white Americans. Findings published in Arthritis & Rheumatism, a journal of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), indicate that vitamin D deficiency may be one of many factors that account for increased pain in older black Americans with knee osteoarthritis (OA).
The stress that some mothers experience during their pregnancies could influence the genetic makeup their babies are born with and, eventually, lead to premature biological ageing and associated age-related diseases.
Athletes who are training need to go through grueling endurance tests. One proven strategy to boost their performance during such tests is to eat carbohydrates as race fuels. Now, an interesting study published on October 20, 2019, in the Journal of Applied Physiology reports that athletes in training could get their energy just as well from a mound of pureed potato, rather than spending money on commercial carbohydrate pastes that don't do the job any better.
