Bound Tree Medical, the nation's leading provider of emergency medical supplies and equipment to the pre-hospital market, today announced that it has acquired Alliance Medical, Inc.
Many gene therapy-based approaches are in development to combat genetic and other causes of blindness and vision loss, and much can be learned about the safety and effectiveness of these promising new therapies by studying them first in non-human primates before initiating clinical trials, as shown by the results of a study published in Human Gene Therapy, a peer-reviewed journal from Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers.
Sphere Medical, an innovative company in critical care monitoring and diagnostics equipment, has recently presented at the Intensive Care Society State of the Art Meeting and published a scientific poster discussing, "A comparative survey of glycaemic control practice in the UK, Germany and BeNeLux".
Since 2000, nearly 1,000 "retail clinics" - offering routine care like sports physicals and immunizations and treatment for minor illnesses like strep throat - have opened their doors inside pharmacies and grocery stores across the United States. Retail chain operators proposed that the new clinics would improve access to medical care among uninsured or underserved populations.
Opponents of the act are generally off base in criticizing investments in improved care. In complaining about the missed opportunity to reform medical malpractice laws to promote evidence-based medical practice, on the other hand, the critics are entirely on target.
