Scientists have found that a product of white blood cells linked to rheumatoid arthritis could cause heart disease in men.
A team from Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is moving a new three-part strategy for treating advanced cancers forward with support from a U.S. Department of Defense grant to Pawel Kalinski, MD, PhD, Vice Chair for Translational Research and Rustum Family Professor for Molecular Therapeutics and Translational Research at the Buffalo, N.Y.-based cancer center.
NPS Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that it intends to offer, subject to market and other conditions, 7,500,000 shares of its common stock in an underwritten public offering. In connection with this offering, the Company expects to grant to the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 1,125,000 shares of common stock to cover overallotments, if any.
Cancer patients receiving care in geographically dispersed urban and rural oncology practices who participated in a program that included telephone-based care management and home-based automated symptom monitoring had greater improvement in pain and depression compared to patients who received usual care, according to a study in the July 14 issue of JAMA.
In 2005, the Food and Drug Administration approved a drug called BiDil as a therapy for heart failure specifically for African-American patients, claiming in a press release that this was a step toward personalized medicine.
