People with mild vascular disease that causes damage to the retina in the eye are more likely to have problems with thinking and memory skills because they may also have vascular disease in the brain, according to a study published in the March 14, 2012, online issue of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
A new study finds children who survive cancer have about twice the rate of educational and social problems compared to children without a history of cancer.
Patients who received the new drug Bendavia before undergoing angioplasty or receiving a stent to clear blocked arteries after a heart attack showed no significant reduction in scarring as compared to patients given a placebo, according to a study presented at the American College of Cardiology's 64th Annual Scientific Session.
A needle-free technology that would allow people with diabetes to measure blood sugar levels without having to stick a needle into their fingertips, has been bought closer to reality by researchers at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute (ABI), University of Auckland, New Zealand.
