For the first quarter of 2010, the Company reported a net loss of $5.6 million or $0.16 per share, compared with a net loss of $6.7 million or $0.25 per share for the first quarter of 2009. Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities as of March 31, 2010 were $25.0 million, up $15.3 million compared with December 31, 2009.
Federal spending on the nation's two main health care programs, Medicare and Medicaid, is projected to grow less than expected over the next decade, according to new estimates released Thursday by the White House. That's because the federal government has been paying less than expected in benefits -; but the new estimates also assume cuts in doctors' payments that probably aren't going to happen.
An analysis of information from a large U.S. cancer database indicates that patients with liver cancer from rural regions and lower income households often have more advanced cancer at the time of diagnosis and face a higher risk of death compared with other patients.
