Phase Forward, a leading provider of data solutions for clinical trials and drug safety, today announced the availability of version 7.2 of its Empirica™ Signal product, a significant new release of the company's flagship signal detection and management software. The Empirica Signal solution is a state-of-the-art data mining and knowledge management tool and a cornerstone component of Phase Forward's Empirica Suite of pharmacovigilance and risk management products.
Myopia or short-sightedness is becoming more common across Europe, according to a new study led by King's College London. The meta-analysis of findings from 15 studies by the European Eye Epidemiology Consortium found that around a quarter of the European population is short-sighted but it is nearly twice as common in younger people, with almost half (47 per cent) of the group aged between 25 and 29 years affected.
Preliminary research suggests that testosterone replacement therapy for men with low testosterone levels appears to have little effect on the prostate gland, contrary to some reports that this therapy may be harmful, according to a study in the November 15 issue of JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association.
ECRI, a nonprofit health services research agency, recently published a Health Technology Forecast profile on a novel pharmaceutical agent that is in development for the treatment of obesity.
