A new vaccine which reduces the risk of shingles (herpes zoster) for use in people 60 years of age and older has won approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The Penn State College of Medicine's Department of Public Health Sciences has received a grant of about $54 million over seven years to act as the data coordinating center for the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute's AsthmaNet. This grant is one of the largest in the college's history. AsthmaNet is a research collaboration of multiple clinical centers across the nation that conducts clinical trials to address new treatments and asthma management.
Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) have been implicated in the development of obesity, diabetes and cancer and are found in a wide array of products including pesticides, plastics and pharmaceuticals.
A 'rule book' to guide precision combination immunotherapies and to speed up the development of new lung cancer treatments will be created as part of a collaboration between Cancer Research UK, the Francis Crick Institute and Bristol-Myers Squibb, announced today (Friday).
Raloxifene protects postmenopausal women from developing invasive breast cancer whether they are at high or low risk of developing the disease, according to a new study.
