Dr. Tim Denning, professor and associate director of the Institute for Biomedical Sciences at Georgia State University, has received a four-year, $1.67 million federal grant to study how an immunological pathway influences inflammatory signaling in the intestine that can lead to chronic human diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease.
High levels of circulating DNA may indicate faster progression of lung cancer and lower overall survival, according to a study published in the February edition of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, the official publication of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC).
A study by Alexandra L. C. Martiniuk, M.Sc, Ph.D., of The George Institute for Global Health, Sydney, Australia, and colleagues suggests less sleep per night is associated with a significant increase in the risk for motor vehicle crashes for young drivers.
Scientists have discovered an amazingly simple way that cells stabilize their machinery for forcing apart chromosomes. Their findings are reported Nov. 25 in Nature.
