Scientists from the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre, led by Guillermo Montoya, have developed a method for producing biological crystals that has allowed scientists to observe -for the first time- DNA double chain breaks. They have also developed a computer simulation that makes this process, which lasts in the order of millionths of a second, visible to the human eye.
Tony Trenkle, the federal official responsible for Healthcare.gov's launch and security, is moving to the private sector. CBS News reports that Trenkle was supposed to sign off on the site's security before launch but didn't.
A study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concluded that adults younger than 65 were more likely than older Americans to skip medicines, or not take them as prescribed.
Although Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) has been classified as a class I (or definite) carcinogen by World Health Organization (WHO), the controversy as to why only a minority of infected patients develop gastric cancer still remains. Moreover, in Asian countries such as Indonesia, Japan, China, and Thailand, where the H. pylori infection rates are similar, there is a significant difference regarding the outcome of gastric cancer. That fact has been termed the "Asian paradox".
