In 2009, it was estimated that a total of 22,070 new cases of brain and other CNS tumors were diagnosed. Pituitary adenomas represent one of the most common brain tumors. Large studies report that approximately 10-20 percent of the population harbors a pituitary tumor. According to the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States, 13.4 percent of all brain and CNS tumors diagnosed in 2009 were located in the pituitary.
Conclusions about the effectiveness of blue light therapy for acne are limited. A new systematic review and meta-analysis of 14 randomized controlled trials of blue light therapy for acne shows methodological and reporting limitations-including small sample sizes, short intervention periods, and variation in reporting quality for acne outcomes.
Living Cell Technologies, a New Zealand based biotechnology company that is investigating the use of living pig cells in the treatment of diabetes has now received $700,000 (US$500,000) grant from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International for further human trials.
Fitch Ratings has downgraded to 'BBB+' the underlying rating on approximately $464 million outstanding bonds issued by the Louisiana Public Facilities Authority on behalf of Ochsner Clinic Foundation (OCF) ($380 million series 2007A) and Ochsner Community Hospitals (OCH) ($83.9 million series 2007B).
