NeuroDerm, Ltd. was informed today that it was awarded a grant of $1M by The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. These funds will support the next clinical study with ND0611, a new dermal patch for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, as part of the Foundation's prestigious Clinical Intervention Awards 2010 program. This study will evaluate the safety, tolerability, levodopa pharmacokinetics, and possible clinical benefits of ND0611 in advanced Parkinson's disease patients.
Research co-authored by Bournemouth University (BU) Professor Adrian Newton and published in the leading journal Science this week shows that ecological restoration in areas of environmental degradation can help reverse global biodiversity losses, as well as promoting recovery of ecosystem services.
An observational study of 826 patients with stage III colon cancer showed that those who consumed two ounces or more of nuts per week had a 42% lower chance of cancer recurrence and 57% lower chance of death than those who did not eat nuts.
Even though considerable doubts surround the survival prospects of these co-ops, they are envisioned as a means to give consumers better value than existing insurance companies. Start-up loans will be available to co-ops that have good odds of becoming financially viable.
