Measuring kidney function by assessing two different factors-glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and urinary albumin levels-helps determine which patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) will develop end-stage renal disease (ESRD), according to a study appearing in the May 2009 issue of the Journal of the American Society Nephrology (JASN).
In the first combat-zone study of its kind, a research team led by Michigan State University found that soldiers with a positive outlook in the most traumatic situations were less likely to suffer health problems such as anxiety and depression.
Orexo AB announced today that the company has entered into an agreement with AstraZeneca regarding OX-CLI, a preclinical program for a potential novel treatment of respiratory diseases.
Of Britain's more than 2 million recreational runners, around 1 million are falling injured annually with 500,000 'off the road' at any one time.
