A new study shows that domestic abuse is closely linked to postpartum mental health problems, including depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), in mothers. The research also found that specific types of abuse are associated with specific mental health problems.
The November issue of the WHO Bulletin features an editorial on maternal death surveillance and response; a public health round-up; an article on the trends in the prevalence of disability in China from 1987 to 2006; and a paper evaluating large-scale health programs at a district level in resource-limited countries.
Low levels of HDL cholesterol, the so-called 'good' cholesterol, are the most common lipid disorder in countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, a new meta-analysis published in eLife shows.
