Following incidents of deaths of high school athletes who collapse suddenly during practice or a game, new guidelines for screening prep athletes for hidden heart problems before the start of a season had been in place since 1996. Scientists at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have discovered a rogue gene which - if blocked by the right drugs - could stop cancer in its tracks.
A new study has uncovered a link between being overweight or obese in adolescence and an increased risk of developing colon cancer in adulthood. Obesity was also associated with an elevated risk of developing rectal cancer.
