Bariatric surgery can lead to total or partial alleviation of migraines in nearly 90 percent of morbidly obese patients diagnosed with migraine headaches, according to a new study presented here at the 28th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
Covalon Technologies Ltd., an advanced medical technologies company, today announced it will be showcasing its advanced medical coating capabilities, including its SilverCoat Antimicrobial Silicone Foley Catheter as well as its recently FDA cleared IV Clear antimicrobial silicone adhesive film dressing from May 19th to May 23rd at the American Urological Association 2012 Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia.
Practical medical advice that works in the "real world" may more effectively prevent cardiovascular disease in women than recommendations based only on findings in clinical research settings, according to the 2011 update to the American Heart Association's cardiovascular disease prevention guidelines for women.
A new study, released as a preprint on the medRxiv* server, examines the relative effectiveness of varying strategies, such as pre-flight testing, longer or shorter periods of quarantine, tests for release, or daily testing after the flight, using modeling tools. The results show that it is feasible to avoid quarantine by the use of lateral flow testing daily for five days, achieving higher reductions in the number of secondary cases caused by an infected traveler in the country of destination.
