Researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have discovered an alternative way to produce heparin, a drug commonly used to stop or prevent blood from clotting.
HeartWare International, Inc. today announced that it has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to expand the number of clinical sites participating in its U.S. bridge-to-transplant trial, known as the ADVANCE trial.
On January 22, the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies will present a guest lecture by Don DuRousseau, founder and CEO of Human Bionics LLC, a neurotechnology company specializing in brain-computer interface (BCI) systems. Mr. DuRousseau will explore the use of neurotechnology techniques, including the increasingly popular neurofeedback, as a treatment for ADD/ADHD.
Multiple sclerosis, or MS, is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system, which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Symptoms may be mild, moderate, or severe, ranging from numbness in the limbs to paralysis or loss of vision. Approximately 400,000 Americans are living with MS.
