Researchers have come a step closer to understanding how gonorrhea infections are transmitted. When Neisseria gonorrhoeae, the bacteria responsible for gonorrhea, are exposed to seminal plasma, the liquid part of semen containing secretions from the male genital tract, they can more easily move and start to colonize.
With support from a three-year $2.1 million agreement with Insight Therapeutics, a private company that focuses on the health care of older adults, a team of Brown University public health researchers will look to identify the most effective flu vaccines for elderly nursing home residents.
Men who have been treated for colorectal cancer can reduce their risk of dying from the disease by engaging in regular exercise, according to a new study by researchers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The findings are published in the December 14 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine.
PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader focused on the health and safety of people and the environment, today announced that it has agreed to purchase the remaining interest of its joint venture in Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and related assets from Danaher Corporation. Danaher acquired this joint venture stake and these assets as part of its acquisition of MDS Inc.'s Analytical Technologies business.
