A 22 year old British man who was refused a liver transplant has died from cirrhosis of the liver after a binge-drinking habit which began when he was age 13.
A new study led by North Carolina researchers has found that when it comes to weight- and fat loss, aerobic training is better than resistance training. The study is believed to the largest randomized trial to directly compare changes in body composition induced by comparable amounts of time spent doing aerobic and resistant training, or both in combination, among previously inactive overweight or obese non-diabetic adults.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and its partners will host a meeting of researchers, clinicians, patients and patient advocates to discuss spinal cord injury (SCI) research and to chart a course of future studies.
Concert Medical, LLC today announced the launch of the "Conductorâ„¢" family of Interventional Coronary Guidewires to the U.S. market. These guidewires are designed to address an extensive range of coronary disease cases at a superior value. The FDA granted Concert Medical clearance for the use and sale in the U.S. of the Conductor product line in September 2009.
People with type 2 diabetes can make insulin but their bodies use it so poorly that glucose levels run amok. It's been difficult for scientists to understand what's going awry in the way that tiny, fast-moving proteins signal and regulate glucose metabolism.
