A pharmacological interaction occurs when the effects of a one drug are modified by the presence of another. The consequences can be harmful if the interaction causes an increase in the toxicity of the drug or if it diminishes its effect, possibly even causing the patient's death, in the worst case scenario. At present, there are databases for checking possible interactions between drugs administered to patients, but the main problem is that many of the databases are not updated for three years.

Aeolus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has initiated a study to confirm the efficacy of AEOL 10150 as a countermeasure to nuclear and radiological exposure in non-human primates.
Prior Scientific announces the HH201 and HH201F filter sample holders for its precise H101A and flat top H101F ProScan motorised microscope stages.
Five scientists from the University of California, San Diego and its School of Medicine have been awarded almost $12 million in new grants from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) to conduct stem cell-based research into regenerating spinal cord injuries, repairing gene mutations that cause amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and finding new drugs to treat heart failure and Alzheimer's disease.
