In a unique and comprehensive literature review of poisoning deaths involving opioids from 1999 - 2009, the deaths involving methadone were found to be disproportionately high. Methadone represented less than five percent of all opioid prescriptions but is responsible for a third of the deaths. After four years of investigation, the major underlying cause was found to be fundamental misunderstandings about the properties of the medicine - a "knowledge deficit" - especially when converting patients from other opioids.
Researchers have discovered that a virus-like particle vaccine can prime the body's immune response and prevent the severe respiratory disease that results when patients given an early form of a vaccine for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are exposed to RSV, according to a study led by Georgia State University.
Sentillion today announced that IASIS Healthcare, a leading owner and operator of acute care hospitals, has implemented its enterprise single sign-on (SSO) solution to provide caregivers with improved access to the health system's electronic health record (EHR) system. Seven of IASIS' 15 acute care facilities are currently live with SSO.

(ESI), relating to the development of an assay that will allow researchers to detect exosomes in blood and other fluids.
