Artificial brain cells could now be implanted in the brain to repair the damage caused by chronic diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative conditions, thanks to a team of scientists who created bionic neurons that work like the real thing.
A new study suggests that treatment with adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) may be helpful for people whose multiple sclerosis (MS) is not well-controlled through their regular treatment. The study was released today and will be presented at the American Academy of Neurology's 65th Annual Meeting in San Diego, March 16 to 23, 2013.
People at risk for a certain form of colon and other types of cancer may soon have a better chance at surviving or even avoiding the diseases, thanks to a new study done by the Intermountain Clinical Genetics Institute at LDS Hospital.
"When looking at the status of planet Earth and the influence of current global agriculture practices upon it, there's a lot of reason to worry, but also reason for hope - if we see decisive actions very soon," Dieter Gerten says, lead author from PIK and professor at Humboldt University of Berlin.
