Bayer HealthCare presented results from a global Phase II study of florbetaben, its imaging agent in development for the detection of cerebral beta-Amyloid plaques, at the 19th World Congress of Neurology (WCN).
Scientists from USA have developed a method to produce a ready made supply of blood vessels for use in heart bypass surgery. A study on baboons and dogs reported in journal Science Translational Medicine suggests vessels could be stored for up to a year and used by any patient. These vessels have been grown earlier from a patient's own cells, but this takes several months.
In a recent New York Times opinion column, dietitian Christy Harrison, an "intuitive eating coach" and author, responded to a fellow clinician who had questioned some of her thoughts on the link between being overweight and developing other medical conditions.
Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that its subsidiary, Watson Laboratories, Inc., has entered into an exclusive agreement with Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (OMJPI), to market the authorized generic version of Concerta® (methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets). Watson will launch its authorized generic of Concerta on May 1, 2011. Concerta is indicated for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
