Pamidronate disodium injection, the generic alternative of Novartis Pharmaceutical Company's Aredia®, is a bone resorption inhibitor. The 2008 U.S. market for pamidronate disodium approximated $17 million, according to IMS data.
One of the nation's pre-eminent genetic researchers, Eric Hoffman, PhD, of Children's Research Institute at Children's National Medical Center, predicts that in relatively short order, medicine's next innovation-individualized molecular therapies-will have the unprecedented ability to treat muscular dystrophies, and other disorders.
Overweight or obese adolescents who were spoken to about their weight by their mothers and fathers were more likely to engage in binge eating and use unhealthy weight-control behaviors than teens whose parents spoke with them in terms of eating healthier, according to a study published in JAMA Pediatrics.
An analysis of previous studies suggests that for patients with a suspected blood clot in a deep vein of a leg, withholding anticoagulation therapy after a negative whole-leg compression ultrasound is associated with a low risk of developing a blood clot during the subsequent 3 months, suggesting that multiple ultrasounds may not be necessary for some low-risk patients, according to an article in the February 3 issue of JAMA.
