Widespread capital freezes and financial shortcomings in the healthcare industry have caused a significant decline in the number of Digital Radiography (DR) and Computed Radiography (CR) purchases. One key challenge faced by the industry has been the lack of capital available for technologies which require high initial investments, such as digital solutions. However, with the economy recovering and funds becoming available to potential buyers, the unit shipment volume is expected to gain momentum in 2011.
Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) President & CEO Billy Tauzin issued the following statement after President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress on health care reform:
Johns Hopkins researchers have discovered that increased blood levels of a protein specific to central nervous system cells that are vital to the brain's structure can help physicians identify newborns with brain injuries due to lack of oxygen.
A high salt intake has been implicated in cardiovascular disease risk for 5000 years. But salt-sensitive hypertension still remains an enigma.
A post-market analysis of cholesterol-lowering drugs called statins indicates that some of the most serious side effects may be higher in one of the newest drugs, rosuvastatin (Crestor). The drug is the strongest statin available because it has the greatest effect per milligram on low-density lipoprotein ("bad" cholesterol).
