Peter Carlsson, professor in genetics at the University of Gothenburg, and his research team are publishing new research findings in the journal Developmental Cell about how the blood-brain barrier develops and what makes the capillaries in the brain different from small blood vessels in other organs.
Night-time hemodialysis patients may have a greater capacity to repair their hearts and blood vessels compared to those on conventional dialysis three times a week, according to a study in the October issue of the American Journal of Physiology - Renal Physiology, published by the American Physiological Society.
Researchers at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, have discovered a new genetic process that could one day provide a novel target for the treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders, such as intellectual disability and autism.
The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) announced today that it received $9.2 million in stimulus funding for scientific research and university recruitment during 2009. The majority of that funding, from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation, will support researchers in UTSA's College of Sciences and College of Engineering.
