Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings announced today that it has extended the term of its agreement with UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company, an affiliate of UnitedHealth Group Incorporated for an additional two years. The agreement, which was effective January 1, 2007, will now continue through the end of 2018.
Eating disorders (ED) such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and binge eating disorder affect approximately 5-10% of the general population, but the biological mechanisms involved are unknown. Researchers at Inserm Unit 1073, "Nutrition, inflammation and dysfunction of the gut-brain axis" (Inserm/University of Rouen) have demonstrated the involvement of a protein produced by some intestinal bacteria that may be the source of these disorders.
Pacing the two lower chambers of the heart, or bi-ventricular pacing, prevented cardiac enlargement as compared to only pacing the right ventricle in pacemaker patients with normal pumping hearts, according to results presented today from the Pacing to Avoid Cardiac Enlargement (PACE) trial, a clinical study supported by Medtronic, Inc..
