The recent CDC report on new HIV infections "underscore[s] ... the inexorable movement of the HIV/AIDS epidemic into black and other minority communities and the failure of government at all levels to respond to that change," C. Virginia Fields, president and CEO of the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS, writes in a New York Daily News opinion piece (Fields, New York Daily News, 8/31).
A study of 64,659 women, recently published in the journal Academic Radiology, found that while 1,246 of these women were at high enough breast cancer risk to recommend additional screening with MRI, only 173 of these women returned to the clinic within a year for the additional screening.
Orgenesis SPRL, a subsidiary of Orgenesis Inc., a leader in the emerging fields of cellular therapy and regenerative medicine, today announced that it has received the formal approval from the Walloon Region, Belgium (Service Public of Wallonia, DG06) for a €2.015 million support program for the research and development of a potential cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
