At a school in Managua, Nicaragua, deaf children are speaking a new language entirely their own, which nonetheless has remarkable similarities to the world's other languages. Researchers studying these similarities suggest this week in Science that, in fact, children give language its most fundamental, universal features just by the way they learn it.
Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that its corporate partner, Boston Scientific Corporation, announced 12-month results from its PERSEUS clinical program that demonstrated positive safety and efficacy outcomes in workhorse lesions for the platinum chromium TAXUS(R) Element(TM) Paclitaxel-Eluting Stent System compared to the TAXUS(R) Express(TM) Paclitaxel-Eluting Stent System.
Black women are three times more likely than white women to die during pregnancy, and twice as many black babies as white babies die in infancy. Yet researchers know little about why pregnancy and infant health differ by race, despite massive efforts to address this persistent problem.
Researchers from The Methodist Hospital's DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center in Houston, Texas have studied outcomes of patients who had endovascular and open interventions for recurrent superficial femoral artery (SFA) occlusive disease. Results of their work are detailed in the August issue of the Society for Vascular Surgery's® Journal of Vascular Surgery®.
