Delivering good news for our nation's health, a new report released by the nation's leading cancer organizations finds that, for the first time, both the incidence and death rates for all cancers combined are decreasing for both men and women, driven in part by declines in smoking and lung cancer.
With March designated as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the North Shore-LIJ Cancer Institute is enrolling people who were recently treated for colon cancer in a polyp prevention study. This National Cancer Institute (NCI)-sponsored study evaluates the cholesterol drug, rosuvastatin (Crestor), as a treatment to reduce the risk of colon cancer.
People who develop dementia or Alzheimer's disease experience brain structure changes years before any signs of memory loss begin, according to a study published in the April 17, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
CEL-SCI Corporation announced today that it has received approval to begin enrollment of patients in its Phase III clinical trial of Multikine® from the Polish Minister of Health. This approval marks a very important milestone, namely that all nine countries in the study have now given official government approval. Five of about 48 clinical centers for this global trial will be located in Poland.
A team of researchers, including senior investigator, Bradley Peterson, MD, director of the Institute for the Developing Mind at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, used fMRI to investigate neural responses to food cues in overweight compared with lean adolescents.
