"Public confidence in President Obama's leadership has declined sharply over the summer, amid intensifying opposition to health-care reform that threatens to undercut his attempt to enact major changes to the system" according an ABC News/Washington Post poll, The Washington Post reports. "Among all Americans, 49 percent now express confidence that Obama will make the right decisions for the country, down from 60 percent at the 100-day mark in his presidency. Forty-nine percent now say they think he will be able to spearhead significant improvements in the system, down nearly 20 percentage points from before he took office."
According to a new study, being overweight or obese during middle age may increase the risk of certain dementias.
GI Dynamics, Inc. today announced that Clalit Health Services, Israel's largest and one of the world's largest health maintenance organization, has established a reimbursement coverage policy for EndoBarrier Therapy, an endoscopically-delivered device therapy approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity.
By using a process called whole organ decellularization, scientists from the University of Minnesota Center for Cardiovascular Repair grew functioning heart tissue by taking dead rat and pig hearts and reseeding them with a mixture of live cells. The research will be published online in the January 13 issue of Nature Medicine.
