A team of researchers led by Duke-NUS Medical School and National Heart Centre Singapore found that deactivating a specific protein - interleukin 11 - with drugs called therapeutic antibodies, reverses inflammation and scarring of the liver in patients suffering from an untreatable type of fatty liver disease called non-alcoholic steatohepatitis .
Noting Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, released his annual letter and report on Wednesday, Eric Porterfield, director of global health communications at the United Nations Foundation, writes in the United Nations Foundation Blog, "The report is an important reminder that the role of measurement and evaluation is a critical component in addressing global challenges effectively."
States eased those policies based on politics as much as COVID-19 death rates or case counts, according to new research from the University of Washington. The researchers also found that states with large Black communities, despite those communities being hit hardest by the pandemic, also lifted restrictions earlier.
