In response to a story examining 2011's top foreign policy issues, Serra Sippel, president of the Center for Health and Gender Equity, writes in a letter to the editor, published in The Hill, that "[g]lobal health was disturbingly absent from" the story. "Global health policy is at a critical turning point right now with the impending implementation of President Obama's Global Health Initiative, which will change our fundamental approach to health programs and policy," according to Sippel.
Following the closure of several research programs for Alzheimer's disease, in early 2018 the FDA issued a release entitled "Draft Guidance for Industry: Early Alzheimer's Disease: Developing Drugs for Treatment." Encouraged by the proposed changes in the new guidance, Genervon's research team reported new findings that its drug candidate GM6 attenuates Alzheimer's disease in an early AD transgenic APP mice model.
Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a leading RNAi therapeutics company, announced today its participation in a $2.4 million research grant awarded to the University of Pennsylvania under the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009". The new grant will fund research over two years in the laboratories of Daniel Rader, M.D. of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Sekar Kathiresan, M.D. of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School, and Alnylam.
