Oxygen Biotherapeutics, Inc., ("OBI") (NASDAQ: OXBT), today announced enrollment of the first subject in the second cohort of its global Phase IIb clinical trial to investigate the safety and tolerability of Oxycyte® in patients with severe, non-penetrating traumatic brain injury ("STOP-TBI").
Cocaine use has increased substantially among African Americans in some of the most underserved areas of the United States. Interventions designed to increase connection to and support from non-drug using family and friends, with access to employment, the faith community, and education, are the best ways to reduce substance use among African Americans and other minorities in low-income, resource-poor communities, concludes a study led by a medical anthropologist at the University of California, Riverside.
Research teams led by Mayo Clinic have demonstrated for the first time that two types of colorectal pre-cancers can be detected through noninvasive stool DNA testing. The two studies being presented demonstrate that stool DNA testing may be useful for detection of premalignant dysplasia in patients with inflammatory bowel disease and of an important type of colorectal pre-cancer called serrated polyps.
A pair of studies published recently in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise (MSSE), the official scientific journal of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), underscore the relevance of sports and exercise research to this year's Tour de France. One study accurately predicted Lance Armstrong's time in a stage of the 2004 race, while another points to an effective training technique for aspiring cyclists.
