Dexmedetomidine may be an effective treatment option for opioid-induced hyperalgesia

Surgical patients who demonstrated heightened pain sensitivity, or hyperalgesia, induced by high doses of a synthetic opioid had their symptoms alleviated by co-treatment with dexmedetomidine, according to new research.
