A controversial surgical procedure that has lost favor among medical professionals may benefit women who have had caesarean sections. So say researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine, who have found that closing the parietal peritoneum, a multi-layered membrane that lines the abdomino-pelvic walls, substantially decreases the likelihood of scarring that can make future C-sections more difficult.
A pelvic exam does not improve a physician's ability to diagnose certain sexually transmitted diseases in adolescent female patients.
IMBiotechnologies Ltd., a privately held biotechnology company focused on developing medical device products for use in the area of embolotherapy, today announced that it has received regulatory concurrence from the United States Food and Drug Administration to market its lead product, Occlusin 500 Artificial Embolization Device in the U.S. for the treatment of unresectable/inoperable hypervascularized tumours.
"An Indian government program to reduce the number of home births by giving expectant mothers cash grants has increased the number of hospital deliveries, but gaps in health care services are still causing avoidable maternal deaths, an alliance of health organizations has said," BMJ reports.
People discharged from hospital after covid-19 appear to have increased rates of organ damage ("multiorgan dysfunction") compared with similar individuals in the general population, finds a study published by The BMJ today.
