Britain's Health Secretary John Reid today announced that genetic test results used to predict possible future illness will not be used to deny people insurance.
A new method to monitor epidemics like COVID-19 gives an accurate real-time estimate of the growth rate of an epidemic by carefully evaluating the relationship between the amount of viruses in infected people's bodies, called the viral load, and how fast the number of cases is increasing or decreasing.
Workflow automation technology provider, Clarifire, announced today two pilots of its new product CLARIFIRE HEALTH. The pilots, performed in partnership with one of the largest Florida healthcare providers, will test intake processes and associated workflow as well as a mobile app that will be used by nurse managers when rounding with patients. Both pilots are designed to standardize patient care and improve patient satisfaction, risk management, and compliance.
An experimental drug that targets macrophages, a type of immune cells, in the microenvironment surrounding the lethal brain tumor glioblastoma multiforme decreased the cancer's growth and extended survival of laboratory mice with the cancer, scientists will report on Tuesday Dec. 17, at the American Society for Cell Biology annual meeting in New Orleans.
