Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc., announced its financial results for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2009. The net loss for the year (including non-cash charges) was approximately $13,438,000 or $0.12 per share as compared to a net loss of $12,219,000 or $0.16 per share in 2008.
New connections between brain cells emerge in clusters in the brain as animals learn to perform a new task, according to a study published in Nature on February 19 (advance online publication). Led by researchers at the University of California, Santa Cruz, the study reveals details of how brain circuits are rewired during the formation of new motor memories.
Population aging and growth largely fueled an increase in cancer cases between 2006 and 2016, and large disparities continue to exist between countries in cancer incidence, deaths and the disease's associated disability.
