An analysis of medical records data from three Massachusetts health care systems finds no evidence that prenatal exposure to antidepressants increases the risk for autism and related disorders or for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
The doctoral program 'CompCancer - Computational Methods in Oncology: Towards Personalized Medicine in Cancer Therapies' has received approval from the German Research Foundation.
Modern Healthcare: Funding to help doctors and hospitals buy electronic medical records could begin to flow through the Medicare program as early as May 2011, a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services official said Wednesday. But, the final shape of the program remains unclear as CMS works to implement 800 pages of new regulations. "We're now working toward actually making all of this a reality, and we have less than six months to do it," the official said (Conn, 7/28).
While many anti-aging drugs don't live up to their claim, a tightly replicated study by Rutgers and a group of researchers from around the country discovered that a chemical used to detect amyloid plaques found in the brains of those with Alzheimer's extended the lifespan of thousands of roundworms similar in molecular form, function and genetics to humans.
The combination of a long-acting β22-agonist and an inhaled corticosteroid may be the best choice for some patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease who need more than short-acting bronchodilators, suggest the results of a Cochrane Collaboration network meta-analysis.
