Children's National Medical Center is pleased to announce that David L. Wessel, MD, has received the prestigious Meritorious Achievement Award from the American Heart Association (AHA) Council on Cardiovascular Disease of the Young. The award is a national career achievement award recognizing an individual who has made a significant impact in the field of pediatric cardiovascular disease.
The FDA today announced that it will open a public docket to begin receiving public comments on the Institute of Medicine's report on the 510(k) program, the most common pathway to market for lower-risk medical devices.
More than 100 who had waited for care were asked to return next week for services. In all, volunteers saw 1,157 patients, 64 of them minors. Overwhelmed by demand for dental services, organizers of a massive free mobile health clinic asked some patients who had Tuesday appointments to return next week, a hitch in an otherwise smooth first day at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.
Amgen announced today that results from a Phase 2 trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of brodalumab in 198 patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis were published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Researchers at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology have proven - for the first time in human tissues - the specific immune system T cells which trigger the destruction of type 1 diabetes in the pancreas. The finding is an important advance that verifies in humans several important disease characteristics shown in mouse studies and provides a key focal point for interrupting the disease process.
