Cancer Research UK and its commercial arm Cancer Research Technology (CRT), have established a team of scientists with expertise in cancer stem cell research to identify new targets to detect, monitor and treat cancer.
Dr Hamish Meldrum, a GP practising in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, has today (Thursday 15 July 2004) been elected to lead the UK's 45,000 GPs as the new chairman of the BMA's General Practitioners Committee (GPC).
A simple drug cocktail that converts cells neighboring damaged neurons into functional new neurons could potentially be used to treat stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and brain injuries.
