A $9.7 million National Institutes of Health project grant to Penn State College of Medicine aims to improve the lives of millions of people living with peripheral arterial disease.
Fossil remains of the human pelvis are rare because the pelvic bones do not preserve very well. Therefore, it has remained unclear when human sex differences in the pelvis evolved: jointly with upright walking, or later, together with the large human brains.
Responding to the announcement by Health Secretary, John Reid, that £95m will be made available to reward GPs for using the new "choose and book" system, Dr Richard Vautrey, the BMA's GP negotiator with responsibility for IT said:
GE Healthcare, a division of General Electric Company and TomTec Imaging Systems GmbH, a worldwide leader in 2D/3D/4D imaging and quantification technologies, have entered into a formal strategic cooperation contract to boost their excellence in echocardiography.
Life-threatening blood clots occur so rarely in children that the condition, known as venous thromboembolism (VTE), is often not on pediatricians' mental radar screens - an absence that can lead to woefully delayed recognition and treatment.
