A new study suggests that pasta can be included as part of a healthy diet, without necessarily leading to weight gain.
Scientists at the Universities of Bath and Leeds have discovered a chemical that stops stem cells from turning into other cell types, allowing researchers to use these cells to develop new medical treatments more easily.
"We need to change how we look at obesity, stop obsessing on weight and BMI and, above all, redefine the proper clinical use of weight loss drugs," says noted obesity expert Dr. Jean-Pierre Després, delivering the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Lecture at the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress 2007.
Indiana Governor Mike Pence (R) signed into law Senate Bill 233 yesterday, which authorizes licensure for anesthesiologist assistants. The American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Indiana Society of Anesthesiologists applaud this action, which will make the services of anesthesiologist assistants available to Indiana patients.
High doses of vitamin C increase the severity of spontaneous knee osteoarthritis in an animal model of the disease, according to a new study by Duke University Medical Center researchers.
