Mountaineers who experience high-altitude cerebral edema often retain traces of the bleed in their brains for many years afterward, show study findings.
Promega Corporation announces the launch of a novel luciferase that is smaller, brighter, and more versatile than any current bioluminescent enzyme. These attributes of the NanoLuc Luciferase provide new capabilities in reporter assays with potential in biologically complex applications that require greater sensitivity.
"It is important for parents to identify the sleep needs of their children especially as they prepare for another school year," says Dr. Kohler. "Getting kids in school sleep mode can take time and sleep needs for teens are different from elementary school children."
In findings that open the door to a completely different approach to curing HIV infections, scientists from the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute have for the first time shown that a novel compound effectively suppresses production of the virus in chronically infected cells, and prevents viral rebound, even when those infected cells are subjected to vigorous stimulation.
Paid maternity leave has major mental and physical health benefits for mothers and children - including reduced rates of postpartum depression and infant mortality, according to a report in the March/April issue of Harvard Review of Psychiatry.
