On February 2, www.ConsumerReportsHealth.org will post hospital infection rates for 25 Detroit area hospitals, along with other critical patient safety and satisfaction information for consumers.
Smoking not only causes bladder cancer-it also affects its course, in that people who smoke more have greater likelihood of developing more aggressive and deadly disease. That is one of the conclusions of a new study published early online in CANCER, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Cancer Society.
Researchers at Xijing Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University, Xi'an, China, found that diabetes and on-admission glucose levels may increase the risk of COVID-19 mortality.
In an article published in the Sept. 15 edition of the Journal of the American Medical Association, (JAMA), author Edward H. Shortliffe, MD, PhD, points out that although information underlies all clinical work, and despite the growing role that information management and access play in healthcare delivery and clinical support, there is a dearth of informatics competency being developed in America's future corps of physicians.
Children with bipolar disorder are less able to identify certain facial expressions of emotion than other children, research shows.
