At the joint conference of the American Society of Human Genetics/International Congress on Human Genetics in Montreal on October 12, GeneDx, one of the foremost genetics laboratories in the world and a subsidiary of Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc., is announcing a first-of-its-kind test that will enable physicians and patients to more accurately identify the genetic cause of rare diseases.
A simple urine test that measures aspirin effect is now available in the greater Boston and surrounding area. The AspirinWorks Test is available to eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire area doctors through Diagnostic Laboratory Medicine.

A computational tool developed at the University of Utah (U of U) has successfully identified diseases with unknown gene mutations in three separate cases, U of U researchers and their colleagues report in a new study in The American Journal of Human Genetics. The software, Phevor (Phenotype Driven Variant Ontological Re-ranking tool), identifies undiagnosed illnesses and unknown gene mutations by analyzing the exomes, or areas of DNA where proteins that code for genes are made, in individual patients and small families.
In a study presented at the on-going ESHRE conference in Istanbul, Vitrolife's patent protected medium EmbryoGlue has once again been proven to increase both implantation and pregnancy rates, regardless of hormone stimulation of the endometrium or not.
